Upcyclist, Designer, & Owner

T.W. Hammer’s home for over five years now has been the neighborhood of Andersonville in Chicago IL. Originally from southern California, Tina began working with terrariums as a wintertime hobby while attending graduate school in Chicago. A photo of a micro terrarium in a light bulb that she spotted on the internet became her inspiration. This ignited her foray into sustainability, communities, moss and business.

I’m in a discovery phase of what does it mean to upcycle and engage nature in that process. I’m an urban modernist with a passion for green leaves, lattes and a good book. I’m in pursuit of understanding what does it mean to be an urban consumer and pragmatically sustainable. I wish to grow green from green. What kind of relationship can hydroponics and light bulbs have in a home? Can a book sit on a shelf, collect dust, and grow a tree?
